More Chicago! Well, Forest Park, actually.
Our last night before heading back to Portland, we hit up The Brown Cow, where they’ve got a couple of rotating vegan flavors for you and maybe the best vegan whipped topping I’ve ever had. To be fair, I have no idea what said whipped topping is made of—I was afraid to ask, lest the answer be something like “the souls of the children,” or “the tears of a dumped-for-the-first-time-16-year-old girl.” It’s probably just fat and sugar and some vanilla or something, but better safe than sorry.
If you’re feeling extra sassy, for $45 you can tackle THE TROUGH, a spackle trough filled with 21 scoops of ice cream plus toppings…and you get a t-shirt. And once a year, they host a trough contest, where 3-person teams compete to out-pig-out one another.
What this place really needs to do to win all this lady’s heart (not that these guys have to worry about some chick in Portland) is offer their ice cream cakes vegan. Right now they can do dairy-free but not completely vegan. I want a vegan ice cream cake with writing on it that comes in a box! What can I say, I’m a sucker for novelties. Until that day comes, I’ll hold on to the memory of this fabulous sundae, ’cause it was darn good.
