I’m pleased as peas to announce the winner of my edible portrait contest. This lucky lady gets free weekend registration to Vida Vegan Con this August.
Of course, let me start by saying how hard this was. I nearly had a seizure just before posting this. I was ready to pick a winner out of a hat because it was so hard to choose one. What do I base it on? What makes one better than the others? I DON’T KNOW!!! <Here’s the part where I tell you how I made my choice…except that I can’t. I’m not an artist so I didn’t sit through criticism classes.> I just hope everyone had fun making theirs. I know I did.
Anyway, Jen, you’re going to Vida Vegan Con!
That’s Jen of That Pain in the Ass Vegan. She used the graham cracker and shortbread recipes from Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar, cream cheese frosting (some tinted with cocoa), and strawberries—’cause they go with shortbread. I love that it’s a giant cookie. She baked for me. And you know this was eaten and that it tasted great.
This one comes from Sarah-Lyn of Lovely Green Lifestyle. She’s got cantaloupe skin, apple teeth, black rice soba hair, and dates for eyes. I love this one for the unconventional use of especially the cantaloupe—I would never have thought of slicing out mosaic tiles from a melon! Check out the fantastic step-by-step on her blog.
And Meansoybean painted the whole thing from slightly tweaked Vegan with a Vengeance royal icing. Gorgeous! (We’ll assume she’s this cute in real life.) This was actually one of two pieces she made—on her blog you can see the one she didn’t submit, royal icing on shortbread.
There’s one last chance for y’all to win registration to the conference—Janessa will get her contest up on Epicurious Vegan soon.
