I think you’re right, we Irish vegans don’t speak up enough most likely. If I win the lotto I’m totally opening a vegan cafe in Sligo. Mmm, ridiculous daydreams…

funny, but given the hills to the west, portland does have a bit of a glittery haze.

we are totally spoiled, but at the same time, we are because enough gutsy folk made enough gutsy moves. aside from the vegan bar/lounge, salons, tattoo shops, and bakeries–hell, we have a vegan mini-mall–most stores and restaurants make sure they have something to offer us. if enough people ask for animal-free goods, they’ve got to supply them, right?

As a late twenties, childless, bookish, crafty, former gifted child without a grown-up, full-time job too, I’d totally watch it. I want to see the kitties, the food, (not quite so much the knitting), and as a vegan in a rural town in Ireland where the height of vegan cuisine is the few bits you can pick up in the health food shop, I’d definetly want to see what Portland has to offer. I imagine the place with a faint glittery haze above it, sort of like a halo actually, yes, I see it as vegan heaven, am I right? (don’t tell me if I’m wrong, it keeps me going).
