it’s new to me: pot pie

So I cheated a little. It’s an Amy’s frozen pot pie, a wheat crust filled with potatoes, carrots, tofu, onion, and peas. A friend had pointed them out once, saying she loved them, and with my VeganMoFo pledge to try something new each week, I figured it was worth a shot.

Well, I hated it. The vegetables were squishy, the crust was like cardboard, and I am quite confident that I will never come to accept gravy in any form. Now, before you cry “But it was frozen! You have to try homemade!” I will say that maybe the crust on a homemade pot pie would be better, but the vegetables would still be overcooked and gravy is gravy.

You can’t win them all, I suppose. I’m still a pretty picky eater, and I guess I’m okay with that. There are still two weeks left so that’s two more new-to-me foods. Bacon bits? Kugel? Sauerkraut? Or there’s still that super-scary food that seems to hound me wherever I go: soup.
